Lucy Air Ambulance for Children

Support us

Registered Charity 1138457. Lucy Air Ambulance for Children is the only charity in the UK that funds flights for children to hospital by aeroplane. We exist to ensure children are able to access essential medical care regardless of distance.

Each week a child is referred to our service needing a transfer by plane between hospitals. Our transfers mean that:

  • Children can access life-saving specialist care and surgery, including organ transplants.
  • Premature babies can be moved in our incubator to receive neonatal care close to home.
  • Children who are nearing end of life can be taken to a hospital/hospice closer to home.
  • Families are reunited and parent’s mental health improves.

Any parent with a seriously ill child just wants their child to get better. We make sure they are in the right place, to get the right treatment, at the right time.

The NHS has no dedicated funding for these types of air transfer and so relies on our small charity's support. We are trying to help as many families as possible but need your support to make these flights happen.

Our mission statement

Our vision is that safe, long-distance air transfers within the UK are available for any child needing one, regardless of distance or cost.
